SettleIndex joins MDR Lab by Mishcon de Reya

SettleIndex selected as one of three startups to join the LegalTech incubator of Mishcon de Reya for its intensive product-focused programme.

Wednesday 15 June, 2022 – SettleIndex has joined MDR Lab, the LegalTech incubator of Mishcon de Reya. MDR Lab targets early-stage companies who are trying to transform the legal industry and leverages the firm to help them build better products.

SettleIndex has joined for its intensive product-focused programme, alongside Version Story and Amplifi. Over the next three months, the companies will be based in the London offices in Holborn and work closely with lawyers and other stakeholders from around the MDR Group.

Jess Murphy, MDR Lab Programme Coordinator said: “We identified a number of opportunities during the application process in 2021 and are delighted to have now converted many months of conversations into something tangible. We are excited to get going again, especially in person.”

The latest additions mean that MDR Lab has now worked with 30 early-stage LegalTech businesses over the last five years of operation. Mishcon continues to work closely and support many of the previous participants. The firm has signed commercial agreements with nine MDR Lab companies, and invested in four of the businesses, including Time by Ping, Everchron, Thirdfort and most recently DraftWise, who took part in the Winter 2020 programme.

Dan Sinclair, Head of MDR Lab said: “Given the growth of the LegalTech ecosystem and pace of change, scouting the market and using technology to help solve problems for our core business and for our clients has become a permanent activity. Despite only saying goodbye to the three businesses who were with us at the start of the year, we are delighted to welcome these companies to the Firm”.

About MDR Lab

MDR Lab was launched in 2017 to enable Mishcon de Reya to work uniquely and exclusively with early-stage technology start-ups in the legal space, including those at concept-stage, to help them prioritise efforts on their product-market fit and find the fastest path to revenue.

Over the course of the 12-week flagship MDR Lab programme, LegalTech startups get the opportunity to work within their target market, to pilot and improve products, and gain a better understanding of where lawyers and their clients would benefit from new technologies.
